Moab Wedding Flowers

Locally Grown, Sustainably Designed

Wild, Beautiful Florals for Your Moab Desert Wedding

I remember the first wedding I designed flowers for in Moab. The couple wanted something that felt true to this place—not imported roses that had traveled thousands of miles, but something that captured the wild beauty of the red rock desert we call home. We clipped dahlias at first light, gathered desert marigolds and wild grasses, and created something that felt like it could only exist here, in this moment, in this incredible landscape.

That's what we do at Farm Yard. We grow and design wedding flowers that are rooted in Moab, Utah—flowers that reflect the season you're marrying in, the landscape you're celebrating against, and the values that matter to you.

Why Choose Farm Yard for Your Moab Wedding

Truly Local, Truly Seasonal: Every stem we use is grown right here on our small farm in Moab or sourced from nearby growers. This isn't just a talking point—it means your June wedding looks completely different from your September wedding, because we're working with what's actually thriving in our high desert climate at that moment. Spring brings sweet peas and poppies. Summer explodes with zinnias, celosia, and sunflowers. Fall gives us dahlias in colors you didn't know existed and all those incredible seed heads and grasses.

No Two Arrangements Alike: I truly believe weddings should feel personal, not like they came from a catalog. We specialize in unique, one-of-a-kind arrangements using unusual varieties you won't find at big box stores. We're growing lisianthus in colors that make people stop and ask "what is that?" We're incorporating movement with grasses and texture with seed pods. Every bouquet, centerpiece, and installation reflects your story and this place.

Sustainable Practices We Actually Follow: I've been skeptical of using the word "sustainable" because it gets thrown around so much. But to me, sustainable floristry means considering how our choices affect the systems we're part of. So here's what that looks like in practice:

  • No floral foam, ever: We use chicken wire, frogs, and tape mechanics. Yes, it takes more time and skill. Yes, we charge accordingly because this matters.

  • Onsite composting: Your wedding flowers from 2025 will literally feed the flowers for 2026 weddings. Our flowers NEVER end up in the landfill.

  • Native pollinator support: We never harvest from wild desert landscapes. We grow pollinator-friendly varieties that support local bee and butterfly populations.

  • Minimal waste: We use reusable vessels when possible, skip the plastic wrap, and think through every supply choice.

Designed for Moab's Unique Environment: The thing about desert weddings is they come with specific challenges and opportunities. We understand how flowers hold up (or don't) in 95-degree heat with 15% humidity. We know which varieties can handle full sun exposure during an outdoor ceremony. We've designed for venues from Castle Valley to Dead Horse Point, from intimate backyard celebrations to adventurous canyon ceremonies. This knowledge matters when you're planning a wedding in one of the most beautiful and demanding landscapes anywhere.

Our Wedding Flower Services

Full-Service Wedding Florals

We handle everything from initial consultation through installation and breakdown. This includes:

  • Bridal bouquets designed to feel effortlessly gathered, with movement and personality

  • Bridesmaid bouquets that complement without competing, each slightly different

  • Boutonnieres and corsages using interesting textures and unexpected elements

  • Ceremony installations: arches, altar arrangements, aisle markers—whatever helps frame your vows

  • Reception centerpieces sized for conversation, designed for your specific tables and venue

  • Specialty pieces: welcome arrangements, cake flowers, escort card displays, bar arrangements

We typically work with couples planning 6-12 months out, though we understand elopements sometimes happen on shorter timelines. The more notice you can give us, the more we can plan our growing season around your specific date and vision.

Consultations That Matter

Our process starts with getting to know you. We want to hear about how you met, what you love about Moab, what matters to you beyond just "pretty flowers." Are you drawn to wild, unstructured arrangements or something more refined? Do you love color or prefer subtle earth tones? Are you thinking about the whole lifecycle of your wedding materials?

I'll walk you through what's actually in season for your date, show you photos from past weddings, and talk honestly about what works (and what doesn't) for desert weddings. We'll discuss your venue, your timeline, your budget, and how flowers fit into your bigger celebration.

Transparent Pricing

Let me be real with you: locally grown, foam-free, sustainable wedding florals require more time, skill, and labor than conventional options. We're not the cheapest option in Moab, but we think we offer exceptional value for couples who care about supporting local agriculture, reducing environmental impact, and having florals that feel truly special.

Most of our weddings fall in the $4,000-$15,000 range depending on guest count, venue size, and design complexity. We provide detailed quotes after consultations and work collaboratively to ensure you're getting exactly what matters most to you within your budget.

What Makes Moab Wedding Flowers Special

The Growing Season

Our high desert climate means a shorter but incredibly intense growing season. We can't grow year-round, which actually makes each season more precious. May through October is when we're at full capacity, with peak abundance hitting in July through September.

Spring (April-May) brings delicate blooms and soft colors—sweet peas that smell incredible, Iceland poppies in every shade, early roses, and all those amazing bulbs. Summer (June-August) is abundance: zinnias for days, sunflowers, celosia, strawflower, lisianthus, and herbs that smell like heaven. Fall (September-October) belongs to dahlias, along with cosmos, marigolds, seed heads, and grasses that capture late-season light perfectly.

Winter weddings are tough for local flowers, though we've done a few using dried materials and creative sourcing from seasonal growers in warmer climates.

The Landscape Connection

When you choose locally grown Moab wedding flowers, you're creating a visual connection between your celebration and this place. The colors echo the landscape—those incredible russets and golds, deep magentas that pop against red rock, textures that mirror desert plants' adaptation to this climate.

Couples who care about Moab—who chose to marry here because of what this place means to them—tend to understand why this matters. Your flowers become part of the story of this landscape, not something imported that could be anywhere.

Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should we book? Ideally 6-12 months, especially for peak season (Spring and Fall). This gives us time to plan our growing season around your date and ensures availability. We occasionally take last-minute bookings if we have capacity.

Do you deliver and set up? Yes! We deliver and install all florals at your venue, working with your timeline and coordinator. We also handle breakdown and composting after your event.

What if our favorite flowers aren't in season? I'll always be honest about what's possible. If you're dreaming of peonies for your September wedding, they're not happening locally. But I can show you what IS available that might capture the same vibe or feeling. Usually, once couples see what's actually thriving in our gardens for their date, they get excited about possibilities they hadn't considered.

Can you work with our wedding planner/venue coordinator? Absolutely. We love collaborating with other vendors who care about their craft. We'll coordinate timing, logistics, and setup to ensure everything flows smoothly.

What happens to the flowers after our wedding? Everything goes into our onsite composting system. Seriously—when couples ask me this, I tend to giddily explain how amazing compost is. I mean, it's pretty cool that flowers from a wedding in spring of 2024 are broken down and feeding the flowers for 2025 events. The whole cycle of growth, celebration, decomposition, and renewal feels right for a wedding.

Do you do elopements? We do! Elopement florals are some of my favorite work—usually a beautiful bridal bouquet and maybe a few smaller pieces. More intimate, very personal, still grown with the same care as larger weddings.

What about destination weddings in Moab? Most of our couples are coming from somewhere else to marry in Moab. We understand you're coordinating from afar and make the process as smooth as possible through video consultations, detailed communications, and reliable follow-through.

Our Approach to Wedding Flowers

Here's what I truly believe: flowers are this incredible gift that connect us to seasons, to place, to the earth's generosity. Wedding flowers should feel like an extension of that gift—not something manufactured or forced, but something that celebrates abundance and impermanence and beauty.

We grow varieties because we love them, not because they check boxes on trending Pinterest boards. We design arrangements that feel gathered and wild, not rigidly structured. We think about the whole story—where these flowers came from, how they'll be used, where they'll go after.

I know I'm not perfect and always have a long way to go. There are choices I wish I could make differently, systems I'm still learning to navigate better. But in my little corner of the world, growing flowers for Moab weddings is work I feel grateful for every single day—dirt under my fingernails at 6am, clipping dahlias in perfect morning light, creating something beautiful that will matter for one precious day before returning to the soil.

Ready to Talk About Your Moab Wedding Flowers?

If this approach resonates with you—if you care about supporting local agriculture, reducing waste, and having wedding flowers that feel authentic to Moab and to your values—I'd love to hear about your plans.

Reach out through our contact form or give us a call. We'll set up a time to talk through your vision, walk through what's possible for your date, and see if we're the right fit for your celebration.

We dream about a day when every wedding in Moab features locally grown flowers, when supporting small farms is the norm rather than the exception, when couples ask where their flowers came from and what happens to them after. Until then, we're here, growing what we love, serving couples who care, and trying to do this work as thoughtfully as we can.

Grateful for this work and for the incredible gift of flowers.
