This November I had the honor of doing florals for a beautiful, intentional event at the stunning Red Earth Venue. The incredible team of Jessielynn Photography and Amanda Avery Capture Co put on a photography retreat (Adventure Awaits Retreats) that was next level. You could feel the soul that they poured into curating an exceptional experience for their attendees and it was a joy to contribute.

Every time a photographer shares a gallery from an event, I am blown away by the incredible talent in the wedding industry. I love seeing what is captured and knowing the time, effort hard work and talent that is behind each image. From the years of experience, artistic eye and knowledge of the photographer to the wedding planner’s design and their assistant huddling behind the flowers to protect them from the wind until the ceremony. I love the collaboration that happens with each event and the human connections that are made.

Tara of Terra Vida Events designed a magical tablescape with a floating installation that truly transformed the space. We used local aspen boughs, rabbit brush and rice grass for the ceiling installation with dripping dendrodium orchids. The rabbit brush was at my favorite stage: after the yellow bloom, the seed heads turn this amazing golden color with a fluffy cloud-like texture. We foraged loads and loads of it with permission from friends’ properties. The delicate table florals were artfully designed bowls of chamomile and orlaya with clematis seed heads. Local clematis is another favorite at this time of year: its seed heads are whimsical and did some shedding at the perfect moment in the golden light. The last of the hoop house lisianthus made for a stunning bouquet. I love the last of the big blooms that hold on after our first frost to give us just a couple more weeks of fresh flowers and in this case, the perfect addition to this shoot.
